A. Super Quick and Easy
1. Take your map, open it out.
2. Hole punch one end to fit your planner - in my case a personal planner. The tube map isn't quite as tall as a personal insert but it fits all the rings of the binder so we're good to go.
3. Line the hole punched edge of the map with the hole punched end of an existing insert.
4. Fold the map in line with the edge of the insert.
5. Now fold again in line with the edge of the holes.
6. Repeat from step 4 until you've run out of paper to fold - this should just be one more fold for the personal but may vary depending on the size of your planner.
You're done! Now bung it where you want it.
B. Less quick but better looking
1. Leave your map closed - get an insert page you no longer need.
2. Cut off the hole punched margin, leaving some room so you don't tear the holes.
3. Place this over the map and trim to fit. It's okay if you go shorter slightly rather than go bigger.
4. Stick the margin over a strip of sticky tape - don't cut the tape off yet. Make sure you leave plenty of tape at the edge to stick the map on.
5. Stick the map onto the tape, then fold the tape over and wrap it around the margin and tape until you're happy it's secure - no need to go overboard.
6. Trim the outside sticky tape edge of the margin and the tip and bottom so that there's no overhang.
7. Slip the scissors between the pages and slip the stick tape up to the fold, so the map can open out fully. You'll know what I mean when you do it.
8. Hole punch over the holes.
That's it, you're done. Bung it in where you like.
Of course if you download the map to your smartphone, you may not need this at all. But sometimes it's good to have it in a bigger view and on paper!
Don't forget to comment! If you've used either of these techniques on other inserts, please share!
